P. J Merrill Seafood was established in 1946 by Paul J. Merrill after his naval service during World War II. He structured a company offering only the highest quality seafoods to his customers. His determination and vision set the groundwork for the company we are today. Although still located at 681 Forest Ave. in Portland, Maine, we have become known as a company whose standards for quality are of the highest in the industry and our commitment to our customer is second to none. In short, we will do whatever it takes, and we will do it first class!
Today, we have been supplying seafood products to Maine and various parts of New England for over fifty eight years. Our customers include Supermarket chains, Healthcare Facilities and Restaurants. We are primarily processors of groundfish, including Haddock, Cod, Cusk, Hake, Pollock, Salmon, Halibut, Swordfish and Tuna. We are capable of processing most species, especially those caught in New England waters. We hand select all of our raw whole product, primarily from display auctions and numerous trusted sources we have developed over the last fifty eight years. This selection process insures our customers receive only the highest quality products. In addition to our fresh line of seafood, we also carry all types of shellfish, including lobsters, and an extensive line of frozen seafoods. We are fully HACCP compliant and approved.
P. J. Merrill Seafood, Inc. is currently operated by John, Tim and Jim Merrill. As the second generation to run the business, we are "hands on" and oversee all aspects of buying, processing and selling. Our commitment to the vision established in 1946 is as strong as the day we opened our doors fifty eight years ago. We look forward to serving all of your seafood needs!
